Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk escaped disciplinary action in the opening minutes of their Carabao Cup semi-final second stage with Tottenham, despite the fact that she appeared to elbow Richarlison.
Van Dijk caught the Tottenham forward with a lost arm while they were tormented for the ball in the second minute in Anfield.
Richarlison went to the ground after the collision, with the Brazilian holding his face.
After his return, Richarlison was seen by confronting Van Dijk with the incident.
Referee Craig Pawson chose to take some action against the captain of Liverpool, where the VAR supported his decision not to punish Van Dijk.
Speaking of ITV coverage, co-commentator Ally McCoist suggested that Van Dijk perhaps escaped a red card that Richarlison had caught under the chin instead of hitting the forward.
'I don't think there is any doubt to look at it quickly. He brings his arm up to try to clean him, “said McCoist.
“There is an elbow there, I'll tell you now. Maybe just below the chin, but they will look at it.
“He may just get away with it because it is under his chin. Richarlison feels hard done by, he uses his elbow.
“I'm not sure if it makes any contact with the face and that is what saves him.”
Liverpool wanted to destroy a 1-0 deficit of the first stage, in which Tottenham led thanks to the goal of Lucas Bergvall.
The Reds felt hurt in the first stage when Bergvall had avoided a second yellow card, moments before he scored the opening goal of the draw.
Liverpool was aggregated on aggregated late in the 34th minute in Anfield via Cody Gakpo.
The winners of the semi -final will meet Newcastle in the final in Wembley next month.
