Jamie Redknapp SLAMS Son Heung-min and questions his credentials

Jamie Redknapp did not get any punches when he asked the letters of faith of son Heung-Min as captain of Tottenham after their defeat against Liverpool on Thursday evening.

The North London side collapsed from the semi-final of the Carabao Cup after a loss of 4-0 at Anfield saw the Reds conquer a 4-1 total victory and book a place in Wembley in March.

Spurs struggled in the second leg conflict and did not succeed in registering a single shot on goal in the game because they did not click on the offensive line at night.

Club captain Son Heung – min – who performed this year under his standards – was hardly noticeable in the game and then came under fire from Redknapp.

Redknapp said about Sky Sports: 'The message must also come from the players. It came Wave after Golf. There you go from. The players must take some responsibility.

'Son, I don't see him as a captain, I have never seen him lead him, what does he bring if you are struggling?

“Talk about the Spurs culture, I would hate to have it on me, but it's always the stick that Tottenham is defeated about.”

The South Korean inherited the Spurs bracelet last season after Hugo Lloris had sealed a move to America with Lafc.

His time as a captain, however, was marred by the poor shape of Tottenham, with the side currently sitting 14th in the Premier League table.

Son himself has passed an overwhelming campaign with only seven goals of his 21 league outings in front of the Ange Postecoglou.

Redknapp continued his analysis of the competition by tearing in the Tottenham team, together with Jamie Carragher.

“(From the Perspective of Liverpool it was fantastic, the way they found out behind them, set it fast,” he said at Sky Sports. “The manager is fine and if you have Salah in front, you get goals every week and Helps you.

'But from the perspective of Spurs, I can't remember a team in my life that I fell with less than a fight as they did today.

'I feel sorry for those young players. Djed Spence played 14 positions tonight, I've never seen anything like that. I would look at the experienced players to lead, they didn't do it a bit. There have been some lows, but that is terrible today. '

Carragher agreed with his colleague and claimed that the defeat was symptomatic of a bad mentality in Tottenham.

“It was never in doubt before the competition,” he added. 'When will Tottenham ever win a big match and do they win against expectations and surprise? The opportunities are huge for Liverpool.

'It's not only this Spurs team, they never shock you. I try to think of the last big match they won … It was probably the Ajax game (in the Champions League in 2019).

'They were very lucky (against Ajax), they were damaged most of the game. When they go to big games, you never think there will win.

“I am not just like a Liverpool fan, none of those Spurs fans would have believed that they would go to Wembley.”
