David Moyes would love a new crack at Wembley with Everton to get the silverware that he never got in his first stint in the club.
The toffees today take on Bournemouth looking for a place in the FA Cup fifth round. Moyes is back in the club and sends the blues away from relegation problems after three victories on the trot in the Premier League.
But now the focus focuses on the cup. Everton reached the final in 2009 but lost to Chelsea and was subsequently defeated by Liverpool in the semi -final of 2012. Moyes changed Everton from relegation that fights to Champions League qualifications during his first stint in the club, but silverware always devoted him. Now he is back, he would be there any more chance.
“I would like to go to the cup final, I would really do that,” said Moyes. “It was raised. I think Louis scored after 29 seconds [in 2009] And we were talking because I mentioned it in my program -notes, as we scored in 10 seconds last week.
“I think everyone wants to win the cup, I don't believe someone is not trying to win the cup. If we could keep ourselves involved in the cup, it would be good. We are not involved in a club.
“We have to start by taking good news back around Everton if we can and I think it would be a good news story to continue to the next round.”
Moyes considered his options about whether or not to rotate Everton who still needs points in the Premier League. Or keep the team strong to keep the momentum after three victories on the bounce has helped to increase the mereside's blue half of merseyside.
But he does believe that they can play with more freedom on their way to the cup tie against the in-shape cherries in Goodison Park.
Moyes added: “Less busy? I only think about it because you are always more assessed about how you do it during a season. We play 38 games, so to be judged in the season is probably a bigger thing than perhaps a cup -winning team, but the cup in this country is so essential for everyone, winning trophies is something that everyone wants to do.
“I think you are right in some ways, I think these games sometimes give you the feeling that it is not the same pressure and maybe it gives you the feeling that you have a little more freedom because you feel that way.”
