Gimenez on target as AC Milan battle past Empoli in fiery Serie A encounter

While Milan had their own agenda, Empoli deleted for their survival of top flight and in a desperate need for ending a miserable form. Their situation could have been even worse when Yunus Musah forced a strong salvation from Devis Vasquez in the early stages.

The men of Roberto d'Aversa responded well and threatened a more open half -hour when Lorenzo Colombo Mike Maignan caught his line and tried to chip him, but his efforts came back painfully from the post.

Theo Hernandez shot broad moments before the break, but the struggles of the Rossoneri to create opportunities led Sergio Conukicao to make a triple change during the break.

His plans went up almost 10 minutes after the restart when Fikayo Tomori was sent and earned a second yellow card for dragging Colombo. However, the numerical advantage of Empoli was short-lived, with the yellow card of Luca Marianucci after a VAR assessment to Red for a Petulant-Kick at Santiago Gimenez.

Milan wasted no time to capitalize and opened the score only three minutes later via Rafael Leao, who flowed a header home on the back post after he was found by Christian Pulisic.

The points were virtually sealed for the Rossoneri with 14 minutes left, while Gimenez opened his account for the club with a left -wing effort along Vasquez.

Empoli eventually had no answer, because the undefeated Run van Milan in the Serie A reached three games while moving from the top four within five points.

In the meantime, the hosts lost a fourth consecutive head-to-head without scoring just one point that the drop zone played a match more than most of their direct rivals.
