They say that absence makes the heart grow – so is that the case with VAR after a FA Cup fourth round that saw a series of controversial decisions in the absence of technology?
Leicester City, Birmingham and Chelsea belonged to the clubs that were revealing the absence of the technology, where VAR was only used in the FA Cup to the fifth round.
Last week, the Premier League revealed data that seemed to show that the accuracy was improved, which stated that there had been 13 varies of 70 interventions this term compared to 20 out of 61 in the same phase last season.
The Premier League also claims that 100 percent of the offside decisions in the top flight this season was correct.
That will be little comfort for Leicester supporters, who were convinced that Harry Maguire was offside when he scored the deceased winner of Man Utd to beat them out of the FA Cup on Friday. Birmingham fans will meanwhile pointed to a goal for Newcastle, where the entire ball did not seem to go over the line, while Chelsea's calling for handball in Brighton could not be investigated.
Here, Sky Sports looks a look at the controversial decisions about the FA Cup round and how VAR may have been intervened.
Maguire appears offside before he scores the last-gasp winner of Man Utd
WHAT HAPPENED
Manchester United claimed a place in the fifth round in a controversial way. Maguire was the hero when he nodded in the winner of the injury time of United, but if VAR had been in operation, it would not have been.
When Bruno Fernandes waved in his free kick, Maguire was already a few meters deeper than any Leicester defender, but was not detected by both the Linesman and the referee.
What was said
United boss Ruben Amorim admitted after the game that the winning goal should not have been on his part.
“With VAR it was not a goal, and I think it is important to have because it is fair for the game,” he said.
“It is really difficult to lose one game with a offside game in the last minute, but we need it and sometimes we deserve a little luck.”
A furious Ruud van Nistelrooy did not stop his destructive assessment of the winner of United, which he “unacceptable” did not stop.
“We are not defeated in Fergie -time, we are defeated in offside time,” De Leicester -Baas told ITV.
“Var you have a few centimeters, a few centimeters. This was half a meter, clearly in line. That is hard to take because the team earned extra time. Decisions like these, at our level, are difficult to swallow.
“When you prepare for this game for the entire week, responds after the Everton, and the game has been concluded with a clear and obvious error, that is unacceptable.
“It is unthinkable at this level and then you have nothing else to do.”

What was said

Man City Avoid the Orient of the region at a cost
WHAT HAPPENED
Manchester City was able to overcome an early fear against Leyton Orient, but some will claim that the opener of the hosts should not have counted in the first place.

What was said

“I think Nico immediately got what the Premier League and the referees are,” said Guardiola.
“I know it is more difficult without VAR because they are not used to it, but there were one or two actions. I say that because we won, otherwise I would remain silent, but there was a clear punishment.
“I think he perfectly understood what England is. It's a shame because I don't know how difficult the stairs are, but he couldn't go on.”
