Manchester United linked with 37-year-old Spanish Sporting Director to replace Dan Ashworth

Since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United has experienced a series of new dawn and hope that this will be the last one under Ruben Amorim for a while. At recruitment level they are still looking for their house in order. They could look at Spain to find their husbands.

Ashworth, who had built up a lot of credit in roles with England, Brighton and Hove Albion and Newcastle United in a number of years, moved to Old Trafford last summer after a long -term waiting to do the deal. It cost the Red Devils almost € 5 million, but after just five months, Manchester United announced that he would leave his role due to mutual permission.

Despite the recently fired Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim, movements that were supposedly decided without much input from Ashworth and those costs of more than € 25 million, United now wants to appoint a sports director. According to El Chiringuito, United is interested in making sports director of the athletic club Mikel Gonzalez. However, it is noted that athletics is 'very relaxed' about the issue and 'have no worries', leaving the club in the near future.

Although they understand that his good work has attracted attention, they said unofficially that Gonzalez is '1000%' dedicated to athletic. Gonzalez, 37, currently has a contract until 2026 and supervises one of the best runs in the history of Athletic's 21st century under the leading hand of Ernesto Valverde.

During his time at Athletic he brought in important players such as Inigo Ruiz de Galarreta, Andoni Gorosabel and Gorka Guruzeta, all on free transfers. A relocation of € 15 million for Alvaro Djalo still has to wear so much fruit, but Los Leones was again active in the transfer market in January and spent another € 3 million on Maroan Sannadi, who was on loan from Alaves in the third level.
