Feyenoord fired manager Brian Priske only two days before their Champions League play-off first leg collision with AC Milan.
Priske signed a contract of three years after replacing Arne Slot last June, who left to take the lead on Liverpool, but is under pressure in recent weeks.
Feyenoord is in fifth place in the Eredivisie table, 12 points behind leaders Ajax, while they also finish their KNVB Cup defense against PSV Eindhoven last week.
Saturday's 3-0 win over Sparta Rotterdam was their first victory in five games and the 18th success of Priske in all competitions, but in the end that wasn't enough.
The DANE ends his time with the club with a profit percentage of 53.13% of his 33 competitions (D7 L8), the second worst record of his management career (Royal Antwerp – 44.9%).
“The club mentions the inconsistent results and a lack of chemistry as the main reasons,” said a statement by Feyenoord.
“Although Feyenoord achieved some impressive results with Brian, especially in the Champions League, the performance of the first team has been far too inconsistent in recent months and unfortunately we see too little structural progress.”
Feyenoord and Brian Priske separate ways with immediate effect.
We thank Brian for his time at the club and wish him the very best.

Feyenoord finished 19th in the new 36-team Champions League table and sealed their place in the knockout phases of the competition with a 3-0 win over Bayern Munich in their penultimate league match.
However, they were beaten 6-1 by Lille in their last game of the first phase, and dropped eight places to set up a collision with Sergio Conukicao's Milan on Wednesday.
It will only be the third meeting between the two parties in the European competition, where the couple each wins one match during their two-legged European Cup round of the last 16 collision during the 1969-70 season.
Feyenoord has only lost one of their 11 home games in large European competition against parties from Italy (W6 D4), a 1-2 defeat against Roma in February 2015 in the Europa League.
The Eredivisie -Outfit is expected to announce who will soon be placed in Interim -Lading for the draw in Stadium Feijenoord.
