Barcelona Femeni star Maria 'Mapi' Leon was convicted by Espanyol after a clip has appeared that appears that touches her the genitals of Daniela Caracas during their collision on Sunday, in which Barcelona won 2-0.
The incident took place during a corner on Sunday, when the two players who struggled with the set piece were pausing. Images seem to show Leon and then touch the genitals of Caracas. About 24 hours later, Espanyol radiated a statement that called Leon's actions 'completely unacceptable'. They note that at the time Caracas was so shocked by the incident that she did not respond, but after the game became aware of the seriousness of the incident. They do not specify which action they maintain, but say that they do not want the incident to remain unnoticed and that they reject any form of violence.
Barcelona then later explained a statement on behalf of Leon, and denied that she touches 'every intimate area'. Leon explains that she touches Caracas' leg and says, “What's wrong with you?” Leon is once again insisting that she did not touch the sexual organs of Caracas, nor did it plan to jeopardize the intimacy of her colleague. She also condemnes the abuse of Caracas on social media, which has occurred in the aftermath of the incident.
It was also not long for Espanyol to hit back to Leon's statement. Dolors Ribalta, director of women's football, appeared on RAC1 and had the following to say.
“Everyone has seen the images. We believe it is an unacceptable and inadmissible action. These are images that should appear in sport. I will not make up about what Mapi said or not said. I will accompany our player who is the victim, 'Quote MD.
“Caracas is hit and has taken it. If the competition committee or League F League ensure that it is punishable and it will punish it, they can do this or not. We want the best for our player. If she was an Espanyol player, everyone would have killed us. We know the context and the environment. '
In the meantime, the Union Futpro of the player has offered their help and services to both Leon and Caracas. Leon is one of the most controversial Barcelona players and has excluded from the selection of Spain in recent years because of the treatment of female players by the RFEF.
