Joe Rogan has called his choice for MMA's best heavyweight of all time and drove a number of UFC legends.
The heavyweight division has had a number of iconic champions, from Mirko Cro Cop to Frank Mir to Miocic and even Jon Jones who makes a business in modern day. But there was always a top player who never made his switch to the Octagon.
Rogan has been watching MMA for decades and even takes battles outside the UFC where he is a color commentator. And he believes that the best Heayweight has never set foot in the Octagon.
Joe Rogan mentions Fedor Emelianenko as the greatest heavyweight of all time
On Saturday night, Joe Rogan was involved in a UFC 312 Fight Companion with his friends Matt Serra, Brendan Schaub and Bryan Callen. Serra is a former welterweight champion and Schaub has even been to the cage with some of the best heavyweights of all time during his own run in the UFC.
Rogan discussed the old days of heavyweight MMA when Schaub suggested that Cain Velasquez may have earned the title of goat. “I think Cain is the best heavyweight ever in his Prime,” the former hunter theoretized after a long discussion about all time.
But Rogan was not so sure and replied that: “It's hard to say because of Fedor, if you could get juicy Fedor of pride, I don't know if anyone beats Fedor in his prime. He was so good, guy, Fedor walked off Cro Cop when he was in his prime.
“You have to remember that most of that fight came up and blow Fedor to blow with Cro Cop and walk it down. That Randelman Armbar, he f *** ing him on his head and five seconds later he has him in a kimura, it's crazy. He was different, he was a monster. '
Dana White admits Fedor Emelianenko as one of his only UFC -Spijt
Over the years, fans always shouted to see Fedor Emeliansko his way to the UFC to test themselves against the best heavyweights. At one point, Dana White tried to put together a fight at the AT&T stage of 100,000 capacity between he and Brock Lesnar.
However, the deal could not be done completely and Emeliansko never came to the promotion. It remains one of the few fights that White could never do during his career, and in an ESPN segment in 2020 he admitted it as perhaps his only regret.
“The only fight that I never wanted to make was Brock Lesnar vs. Fedor Emelianenko,” he told UFC.com. “We would do it in Texas Stadium,” he added. “But I couldn't get a deal with Fedor, so it never happened.”
