Thibaut Courtois rubs salt in Man City wounds after Real Madrid comeback

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois put the boot in Manchester City after their 3-2 victory in the Etihad by claiming that they had more faith than the side of Pep Guardiola.

City collapsed this season when Jude Bellingham appeared with the winner in stopping time to give Madrid the advantage in the play-off tie of the Champions League, after Kylian Mbappe and Brahim Diaz had canceled the Brace of Erling Haaland.

The men of Guardiola have a difficult season after a scorching spell last year in which they achieved one win of 13 games and still feel the after-effects after a few gloomy results-including a 5-1 insistence through Arsenal.

Former Chelsea Shot-Stop-Courtois added insult to an injury after the late victory of Madrid and insisted that their desire to win was stronger than that of the city.

“They are an offensive team,” he told the media after the game. “It is better to win, even if you have to admit goals. We have played a good game, we have admitted two goals with a bit of bad luck.

“We dominated the game and deserved it to win. With the score on 2-1, the team believed in the draw and then came 2-3 because we believed and felt stronger than they.

“We have to improve a little because the goal we admitted came from bad pressure. But we felt good on the field and calm enough to play our game. The penalty was a bit light, but it was called. We kept to believe.”

It is the newest match in which City has yielded a lead after he gave 2-0 in Brentford in January, only admitted twice in the last ten minutes to get away with a 2-2 draw.

Only a week later they went again with 2-0 on PSG in the Champions League, before they collapsed to a 4-2 defeat.

The former player Diaz saw their loss for City scoring against his former club, and although he said he was “grateful” for the Sky Blues, he couldn't resist participating in the pile with his comments after the game.

“We benefited from their mistakes,” he said. “We have created many opportunities for their mistakes. We worked very well and we forced very well. This is Real Madrid.”
