Ed Sheeran politely asked to leave after gatecrashing Amorim interview live

ED SHEERAN was awkwardly asked to LEAVE Sky Sports' live coverage after wrapping up their interview with new Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim.

Singer-songwriter Sheeran, 33, is a minority owner of his home town Ipswich club and watched the newly promoted side draw 1-1 with the Red Devils at Portman Road on Sunday.

After the match, Amorim faced the Sky Sports panel after his first game in charge of Man Utd.

Kelly Cates, Roy Keane, Izzy Christiansen and Jamie Redknapp asked the Portuguese coach questions when Sheeran came into view in his Ipswich jacket.

Cates said: “Ed Sheeran has joined us. Ed, we're just talking to Ruben Amorim, who might not want to talk to an Ipswich fan.”

Sheeran waved to Amorim as he hugged a beaming Redknapp.

Cates added: “But from an Ipswich perspective it was almost perfect”, referring to his hit single “Perfect”.

Sheeran replied: “I love it. I love being back in the Premier League.”

Cates then added: “We're really happy to hear from you,” before Redknapp politely said to Sheeran: “Will you just come and say hello?”

Sheeran then shook hands with Redknapp before sheepishly walking out of the shot.

And Cates ended the impromptu segment by saying, “Thank you so much, Ed.”

Sheeran, who owns 1.4 percent of Ipswich, has seen his side pick up four points from games against Tottenham and Man Utd.

Kieran McKenna's men are eighteenth in the Premier League, their first top-flight season since 2002.

They are in the relegation zone only on goal difference, with crucial games scheduled against fellow strugglers Crystal Palace and Wolves over the next three weeks.

Next up for The Tractor Boys is a trip to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Meanwhile, drama ensued with Sky Sports pundit Keane at Portman Road after he had an angry confrontation with a fan, telling the supporter: “I'll wait for you in the car park”.
