‘I have no complaints’ – Postecoglou rubbishes Son criticism

Ange Postecoglou defended Tottenham captain Son Heung-Min with Tottenham and said he doesn't deserve to be a scapegoat for their recent results.

Spurs is currently 14th in the Premier League table, after they have won only one of their last eight games in the competition, while they were also beaten from the EFL Cup and the FA Cup last week by Liverpool and Aston Villa.

They have struggled with injuries in recent months, with 11 senior players missing the previous time -only in their FA Cup team.

Son is one of the players who are regularly available for Spurs, and has 21 performances in the Premier League with 19 of those starts.

He has yielded six goals in the top flight this period, the third best return in the team, but has not scored since the Noord-London Derby on January 15.

Son leads the road for assists at Spurs players and registers seven. After his assist for Pape Sarr's goal against Brentford, he became the outright leading assister of Tottenham in the Premier League (69), who caught up with Darren Anderon (68).

And only Dejan Kuluesevki (59) has caused more chances for traces this season than in the competition (37).

Son, however, has been the subject of criticism of his performances during the low spurs of Spurs, although Postecoglou was adamant that the South Korean is the perfect player to lead the group.

“I have said a million times; we are now in a world where people constantly want someone to blame. That is the world in which we live,” Postecoglou said.

“The reason for our poor results and consistency is not because of Sonny or my tactics.

“It's just that we have had 11 injuries in the last two months, which means that we have had tired players, but that is not enough.

“That does not offer a head on a plate. Nowadays we lead our lives. If someone makes a mistake, they want to break them down. There is no longer any clementia, understanding or contextualization of why this happened.

“They are looking for someone. When people think that Sonny did not do everything in his power to help us through this. So what if he is a nice guy? What is wrong with being a nice person?

“Sonny is Sonny. I have no complaints about his leadership, he treated it in his own way.

“If you are looking for someone to blame, look at the most removable man.”
