Arsenal transfer target set for debut Spain call up

Luis de la Fuente will bring a new goalkeeper to his Spain team in 2025 while Joan Garcia continues to attract attention in Espanyol.

The 23-year-old has emerged as an important transfer target for Premier League side Arsenal in the last 12 months after Mikel Arteta provided an offer for him last summer.

The Espanyol star would not be convinced about the move to North Londs prior to the 2024/25 season, because he would be in the plans of Arteta Understudy for David Raya.

That situation has not changed, with Raya still the undisputed no. 1 for Arteta, but the Gunners will push to Garcia again for the following season.

Despite their failures to convince him to join a deal of € 30 million, reports from Football Insider (via ED) claim that they are “very confident” to close a deal in the summer window.

Arteta is not the only one who closely monitors the Sallent Stopper with De La Fuente on a reconnaissance mission to view it this weekend.

The Spain boss was present for the 1-1 home competition of Espanyol with Athletic Club this weekend as part of checking in the progress of Unai Simon at its continuous injury.

Simon immediately went surgery after the Spain's UEFA Euro 2024 title profit last summer with Raya with five of the next six UEFA Nations League matches.

It is expected that Raya will return to a deputy for the Nations League collisions of March with the Netherlands with Simon with a lot of stock in the spirit of the La Fuente.

Reports from Relo claim that Garcia is now his number 3 with the Chelsea form of Robert Sanchez who loses and the desire for a fresh face strong.

Garcia has never made a senior performance for Spain, but was part of the team that protected a gold medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, after he had represented Spain at four minor levels.
