Tottenham 1-0 Man United PLAYER RATINGS: Whose error proved costly?

Tottenham made a tense 1-0 win over Manchester United in the battle for besieged giants.

Spurs had not won at home in the Premier League side on November 3, a wingspan of 105 days, but the early goal of James Maddison saw all three points remain in London.

This was the first time that Spurs had done the double over United in 25 years and while they climb to the 12th, the result is the Red Devils in the 15th.

Nathan Salt from Mail Sport was in North Londs to judge the players.

Tottenham Hotspur (4-2-3-1)

Guglielmo Vicario – 7

Back after an absence of 12 games, the Tottenham no. 1 was completely on the full piece to deny Alejandro Garnacho's best corner effort in a back and forth first half and was again sharp to deny the Argentinian halfway through the second. His return is a timely boost for this Tottenham side.

Pedro Porro – 7

Was less an attacking threat than he has previously shown that it is, but he deserves the honor of limiting Alejandro Garnacho to small quality opportunities in the course of the game. Tottenham helped to carry out problems by breaking on the counter when the game ended.

Kevin Danso – 6.5

Has arrived and displaced Archie Gray, Danso looks like and won a lot of complasits from his manager when he made a final slippery intervention to prevent Rasmus Hojlund from walking on the goal with 20 minutes. Timed it to perfection.

Ben Davies – 6

One of the line is released to deny Diogo Dalot's shuffled shot in the first half, but looked the most ragged of the back line of Tottenham. I was booked for a late challenge on Rasmus Hojlund deep in the second half. Booked.

Djed Spence – 8

Continue to make big steps this season and much of his progress was completely visible here in a confident version of the left behind. Drove forward with a goal and did not escape his defensive responsibilities. I got away with a push in the area when Casemiro went down dramatically.

Lucas Bergvall – 7

A real gem of a player and by being used in a deeper role, it means that Tottenham has playmakers at every level of the attack. Manchester United missed him to bring him to their academy because of the Brexit rules. Their loss is Tottenham's game. Looks mature after his years.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 6.5

Combination as always Bentancur kept the pace high with the speed with which he moved the ball. Has hectares had room to operate in the somewhat ragless system of given Manchester United. Seemed to be uncomfortable when he came to be replaced by Yves Bissouma, which is a reason for concern.

Dejan Kulusevski – 6

Always busy, but this game was missing the end product from the Swede. Provided a good battle with Patrick Dorgu van Denmark along the Tottenham on the right, but you left with the feeling that he came out on the second best.

James Maddison – 7.5

Escaped the attention of Matthjis de Ligt and Patrick Dorgu to respond the fastest to production in the opening goal – his ninth Premier League goal of the season. Adds so much to this Spurs team with the neat films and his football IQ.

Son Heung –min – 7

His delivery remains exemplary and he could hardly believe his happiness that Diogo Dalot chose to refrain time and again. The United Defenders never gave a moment to rest. For spells here he looked like the son of the past.

Mathys Tel – 6.5

Tel Picked Onana's gloves on his left foot of Son Heung-Min after 25 minutes. Looks alive, but never seemed to be a convincing target threat that plays here like the No. 9.

Manager: Ange Postecoglou – 7

The game went under enormous pressure, but came out with the victory and he deserves the honor for that. Unlike his counterpart, he had no problem turning to his couch and although this was far from perfect display, it's all about results at the moment for Postecoglou and Tottenham and they have one here.

Pape Sarr (for Lucas Bergvall, 64) – 6

Archie Gray (for Kevin Danso, 78)

Yves Bissouma (for Rodrigo Bentancur, 78)

Wilson Odobert (for son Heung-Min, 87)

Manchester United (3-4-2-1)

Andre Onana – 5.5

Save the first urge of Lucas Bergvall well, but pounds him directly in the path of James Maddison when his defenders slept for the opening goal. A number of important stops made as the game continued, but his mistake turned out to be expensive.

Noussair Mazraoui – 6

Was far too tight on Maddison caught in the early exchanges, but sat down – and he had to have the given Son Heung – minute a constant thorn in his side. Remains a square pen in a round hole, but he got stuck and that is all his manager is now.

Harry Maguire – 6.5

Produced a number of really smart diagonals and long balls over the top and stepped up with Lisandro Martinez – who normally accepts that responsibility in the back three – the rest of the season. Organized the side while they found foot on the ground in the game.

Matthijs de Ligt – 6

Fell asleep for the opening goal of Tottenham and therefore took an earful from Bruno Fernandes. Was pushed to the left side of the back three because of Leny Yoro's disease and grew in the game after his early mistake. Made some important blocks.

Diogo Dalot – 5

Felt the wrath of his manager all afternoon with the way he juggled both son Heung-Min and Djed Spence by his side. Was nowhere close enough to both and it was no surprise to see Ange Postecoglou's silk look to exploit this flank.

Casemiro – 5.5

Made his first start since the 2-0 loss for Newcastle United on December 30 due to injuries. It is at the point where you feel sorry for him with the amount of soil he expects to cover. Routinematig was on an island that he could not protect. Booked.

Bruno Fernandes – 6

Was trapped between two positions, because he was instructed to double the right side to help Dalot, which exposed Casemiro in the middle. One of his sloppy games according to his elevated standards, but he never false for effort and Ruben Amorim needs that in the midfield in midfield.

Patrick Dorgu – 6.5

Just like Tel, Dorgu made his Premier League debut and skipped to the left wing, after he had played on the right side in the FA Cup victory in Leicester City. The fact that Spurs got such a small joy from his side, either by Porro or Kulusevski, means that he deserves credit. Dug in a real battle. Booked.

Joshua Zirkzee – 7

Best player in a united shirt on the day, even with his late head of Miss who really should have gone inside. Zirkzee showed flashes of his skills and was positive when he got the ball all afternoon. But the fall-out of him who remained so central meant that he did not take enough defensive responsibility, which contributed to the workload of people like Fernandes and Casemiro.

Alejandro Garnacho – 5.5

Missed a gilded opportunity when I was free in the penalty area that really had to go 1-0. Had so much time but leaned back and leaned badly. Find itself as the missed competition leader for great opportunities. Gets in so many good positions, but his performance leaves a lot to be desired.

Rasmus Hojlund – 5

I looked to get some early joy the channels, but that spark of hope soon faded. Does a lot of thankless running, but he does not bring fear into opposing defenses and that enables them to control him with relatively ease. Must find a way to become a real threat.

Manager: Ruben Amorim – 6

Arrived with hands behind his back without Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, Toby Collyer, Leny Yoro, Christian Eriksen and more. Although this was an improved performance in spells, his decision not to turn to his bank until the 90th minute of volumes of how many players he feels he can trust.
