Bompastor hails ‘magic’ James after last-gasp winner for Chelsea

Sonia Bompastor praised the “magical” touch of Lauren James after the winner of the Chelsea Star against Everton on Sunday.

Chelsea seemed to have fallen for women for the second time that this Super League campaign was in the lower corner from 25 meters in the lower corner.

Mayra Ramirez had previously canceled Kelly Gago's 51st minute for Everton, because Chelsea did not seem to not claim all three points for the first time since their 1-1 draw with Leicester City in December.

However, James resigned as the hero with a strike that kissed the woodwork on the way in, much to the delight of Chelsea head coach Bompastor.

“I have said a lot about LJ, her potential and all her talents,” said Bompastor. “If we didn't have her on the field until the end, we would not have been able to win the game. That is simple.

“You need these creative players and players with these talents to win games. She has shown her magical.

“She was able to play two 90 -minute games, so she comes back to a really good shape.

“She also defended a lot for the team and that is also something we talked about to ensure that she works very hard for the team.”

The victory clearly kept Chelsea seven points on the WSL top, after they had recorded their 26th victory at their last 27 games in all competitions.

“Sometimes it is good for emotions, even for fans or players, to live those emotions,” Bompastor added.

“You have to fight until the end. As you can see from the start of the season, I sometimes don't have many reactions to the goals and everything. But it responded a little more.”

It was the second time in a week that Everton took the lead before he fell to Chelsea, who came from behind to win 4-1 in their FA Cup meeting before this match.

For Bompastor there was a feeling of “Deja Vu”, although the ever-relevant blues found another way to win and keep their hope for an unbeaten WSL season alive.

“We knew that in Transition Everton we could hurt us. If we sometimes try to push and score a goal, we leave more space and had the chance to exploit the space,” she continued.

'They had a good achievement and they came back [from the FA Cup game last weekend] With a different mentality and quality.

“It's Deja VU because it's the same as last week [coming from a goal down]. Today, again, we believed it was possible to come back and win this game. This is what I am most happy with. “
