Simone Inzaghi was frustrated by the waste of Inter after Sunday's defeat in Juventus, she saw the chance to jump Napoli at the top of the Serie A.
After 74 minutes, Francisco Conukicao hit the only goal of the match for Juventus, after a smart footwork by Paris Saint-Germain loaner Randal Kolo Muani.
That came after Inter had dominated the first half and the Opportunities worth 1.71 had passed on expected goals (XG) to Juve's 0.42.
After the break, Inter lost the XG struggle with 0.93 to 0.24, so that a single shot could be admitted to goal.
“There is a lot of regret and disappointment, but the boys showed great organization and courage,” Inzaghi told Dazn.
“We had to score more goals and end the first half with a lead.”
The Inter -coach explained that his decision to make three substitutions in the 62nd minute was due to Juve's superiority after the break and the lack of fluency of Inter.
“We had to do better, the last situation was wrong. In the nine years that I have been to Turin, I have never had so many opportunities,” said Inzaghi.
“It hurts to lose, we really wanted to win. Everything is still open, but we have to change the pace.”
Inter could finally have continued in the title race after Napoli was held on a 2-2 draw in Lazio, but they are now two points from the pace with 54 of 25 games.
Inter Visit the Napoli side of Antonio Conte on March 2, but Inzaghi does not look too far ahead.
“It will be an important game, such as tonight, but we first have other games,” Intaghi added, whose side guest Genoa next week in the competition, then Lazio in the quarterfinals of Coppa Italia. “We have to do better than tonight.”
