Arsenal re-signed Campbell from Spurs and Flamini as free agents

Mikel Arteta recently admitted that Arsenal is on the market for a free agent to resolve their spits problems – and that would not be at all – chartered territory for the gunners.

Arteta, 42, is in a difficult position after Kai Havertz had torn his hamstring during the Warm-Weather Training Camp in North Londoners in Dubai. The ex-Chelsea attacker joins Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli on the Arsenal Letel list.

Against Leicester City, Mikel Merino, who was signed from Real Sociedad to offer coverage to defensive midfielder, a brace when he was thrown at the front by Arteta. While the Spaniard had the Midas rising against the foxes, the Arsenal -Baas could still make a play in the free agent market to find a more orthodox solution for their injury problems in the forward areas.

While the Gunners think about their situation, Mirror Football looks back on two surprising free signing sessions that Arsenal has made in the past.

Sol Campbell

Nobody will ever forget that Tottenham Hotspur captain Sol Campbell left the White Hart Lane to join Arsenal with a free transfer in 2001. However, many have forgotten the time that Campbell was again signed for the north Londoners.

At the time, Campbell was without a club after a doomed enchantment with Notts County. The international of England did not even take a month before he realized that Portsmouth for the Magpies exchanged for the Magpies in the summer of 2009.

Four months of Free Office came to an end when Wenger brought Campbell from the cold on a free transfer to the end of the season. The then 35-year-old went through a trial period and was impressed by a practical competition. He made 11 performances and even popped up with a goal in a 1-1 draw against Birmingham City.

Mathieu Flamini

Flamini's first spell at the Gunners Between 2004 and 2008, AC Milan convinced to sign the Frenchman when his deal ended in North Londen. Five years later, the roles turned, while Wenger brought him back to the Emirates Stadium when Milan released him.

He turned out to be a bargain when he played a major role for Arsenal and won the FA Cup 2014 and 2015 for three seasons. Flamini made 93 performances in his second spell, scored five goals and assisted one. Given the number of matches he played, Arteta will hope that every free agent will be just as good as Flamini.

The free goals of Mikel Arteta

The old saying dictates that people have to keep his friends closer, but their enemies closer – and Diego Costa can be a solution for Arsenal. Options are limited for the Gunners, but there are few strikers with Premier League experience in the Free Agent Field.

Despite his poor enchantment at Wolves, Costa is still a natural born Finisher who also bite, aggression and a control of the dark arts that all winners have. Another option could be a reunion with Carlos Vela, who contributed 11 goals and eight assists in 62 performances between 2008 and 2011.

Vela turned out to be a goal machine in Major League Soccer, finding the net 78 times and helping 42 goals, but at the age of 35 it is far from an ideal option.
