UFC Hall of Famer Urijah Faber's reported MMA -backkeer did not receive universally positive reception.
It has been almost five full years since Urijah Faber lost to former title holder Petr Yan on UFC 245. But after he was satisfied with retired after a short comeback stint, Faber is said to return to the cage against a well -known enemy.
As reported for the first time by MMA Mania's Alex Controlin, Faber will be confronted with former UFC Bantamweight champion Renan Barão on an excessed global combat liga card later this year. The booking comes only a few weeks after Faber was released from his UFC contract, the first sign of a potential return to combat sports.
Faber and Barão fought twice in their UFC career with Barão who got the nod in both trips. After their first fight resulted in a unanimous decision, Barão Faber played at UFC 169 in his first linear Bantamweight defending defense.
Trilogies do not occur, especially in modern MMA. But after the announcement of Faber vs. Barão was the comeback of the two veterans not universally praised.

The news about Faber's MMA backer happens to come after his triple rival, Dominick Cruz, has announced his retirement of Vechten. At the moment it is uncertain whether Faber's coming fight will be a one-off, or whether his GFL contract is part of a multi-bout deal.

Faber's old Undertudy, Song Yadong, returns this Saturday in UFC Seattle against Henry Cejudo in the main event of the map. Faber is expected to be in Yadong's Hoek for the fight.
After he announced his retirement after a victory over Brad Pickett in 2016, Faber returned to the Octagon in 2019 and beat Ricky Simón through the first round knockout. He appeared at the point of another potential title shot before the loss for Yan.
The full GFL event slate is in the making, from this letter, and is expected to be completed in the coming weeks. The promotion is in its infancy and announces battles on shortly after the very first design.
