Real Madrid add Andoni Iraola to shortlist of potential replacements for Carlo Ancelotti

Bournemouth -Baas Andoni Iraola will join Xabi Alonso on the Shortlist of Real Madrid to replace Carlo Ancelotti, the Italian was allowed to leave this summer.

Mail Sport understands unforeseen plans in the event that Ancelotti is now going, include Iraola, which is represented as Alonso by the same Spanish agency.

There were reports in Spain this week that Ancelotti was ready to walk away at the end of the season, then played by the 65-year-old.

But although the future of the manager is uncertain, Bernabeu -leaders will come up with a follow -up strategy.

Bayer Leverkusen -Head coach Alonso has long been the favorite to replace Ancelotti. The CEO of Leverkusen, Fernando Carro, said this week that he expects the former real midfielder to stay in the club after this season.

Iraola focused that in Madrid. His work in Bournemouth did not go unnoticed, with the Cherries fifth in the Premier League and playing an attacking brand of football that have several larger rivals difficult to live this season.

They have defeated Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham, Manchester United and Newcastle during their rise at the Champions League places.

Tottenham would indeed have Iraola at the top of their list, were to go to postecoglou, but there has now been spoken in Premier League circles of Madrid's interest. The 42-year-old has only 18 months to walk with his Bournemouth contract, and that makes the South Coast Club vulnerable for an approach this summer.

Iraola managed Rayo Vallecano in Madrid for three years before moving to Bournemouth in 2023.
