Liverpool told why they should avoid triggering Matheus Cunha’s transfer release clause

Liverpool should resist a movement for Matheus Cunha in the summer- because the side of Arne Slot simply does not need him, according to Gus Poyet.

De Wolves Forward, 25, has been associated with a large number of clubs in recent months in the bid of the club to maintain their Premier League status, where 12 league goals and four assists are registered.

Cunha was the subject of importance of Arsenal in January's transfer window before he brought his future to Wolves by signing a new deal at the start of the month.

However, it is known that the new contract of the Brazilian contains a release clause of £ 62 million and many clubs, including Liverpool, have already been tipped to make a move.

But Poyet does not think that Cunha would improve Liverpool and tell Makthavare: “I know that Liverpool is linked to Matheus Cunha, but at the moment they don't need anything! They are seven points clearly at the top of the Premier League and have a great one Team, so I don't think they should make big movements.

“Cunha is a great player and has a brilliant season, but the only thing Liverpool has to do is continue to win football matches – what they are.

“Cunha would improve their team, but he is by no means essential for the success of Liverpool; they already have everything they need from an attacking point of view to win the Premier League and large trophies in the future.”

Clubs will probably go back at the end of the season for Cunha in the knowledge that his release clause could theoretically make a summer agreement.

The Reds have only made two signing sessions since Last summer followed Jurgen Klopp, so that Federico Chiesa of Juventus and Georgia goalkeeper, Giorgi Mharardashvili, who will arrive at the end of the current campaign, arrive as Roma.

The outcome of contract discussions with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk will probably determine how active Liverpool will be on the transfer market this summer, with all three free agents in the coming months.

The conversations with the trio are expected to continue between now and the end of the season, while Liverpool offered to keep all three players on Anfield while they juggle their title offer.
