Chelsea co-owner Jonathan Goldstein says that Enzo Maresca is “doing great work” and will continue “100 percent” as a head coach for the rest of the season
Maresca was only appointed a five-year-old deal in June with the option of a sixth-but-buts, supporters have seen more and more frustrated in the midst.
Traveling fans in Brighton & Hove Albion sang about former owner Roman Abramovich and “We want our Chelsea back” during Friday's 3-0 defeat.
Goldstein, who was part of the combined purchase of the Abramovich club in 2022, acknowledges that recent versions have not been good enough, but that he – and his co -owners – will remain 'very optimistic' about the future under the management of the Italian.
“He is doing great,” Goldstein told Bloomberg TV. “Chelsea started the season very well. The last six weeks are, you know, finding their feet a little more.
“But Enzo has clearly done excellent work to bring the team together, so that the talent is brought through.”
When he was told that Chelsea is currently sixth in the Premier League, Goldstein replied: “And we are very optimistic for the rest of the season in how that happens.”
Maresca is the third permanent head coach since the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital Takeover with Graham Potter of seven months and Mauricio Pochettino a single season.
Asked if Maresca will continue for the rest of the season, Goldstein said, “One hundred percent.”
Maresca's side returns to action against colleague Champions League Chasers Aston Villa on Saturday.
