Atletico Madrid have hope of resurrecting failed 2024 transfer

Atletico Madrid had a very busy window in the summer transfer in 2024, with various large signing sessions that have arrived in the Metropolitano. Conor Gallagher was one of them, although a deal with Chelsea was very difficult to do.

Atleti had an agreement with Chelsea earlier in the summer, but after Samu Omorodion had pulled the plug in the opposition direction, the transfer collapsed. And although it was raised later, the club worked on other deals in the meantime, with the big one for Javi Guerra.

Guerra has been a long-term objective for Atleti, and when the Gallagher deal got through, director of Football Carlos Bucero received permission from CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin to negotiate with Valencia, as revealed by Relo. These conversations remained flexible, with an operation worth € 25 million that had been agreed quickly.

A deal for Guerra was in the final phase when the Gallagher operation was brought back to life. Chelsea agreed to permanently sign Joao Felix, and this meant that things could continue as planned before. Eventually they did that after the intervention by Agent Jorge Mendes, which means that the operation with Valencia was abandoned.

It was Andrea Berta that Athleti's strive for Gallagher, and although the club chose him on that occasion with him, he has since left his position as a sports director. That is why the report states that there are more opportunities for Los Colchoneros to regain their interest in Guerra.

Bucero is still enthusiastic about the 21-year-old, who has been a striking performer for Valencia in recent weeks. In combination with the fact that Los Che still has to do a large sale of money in the summer to alleviate their well -documented financial misery, there are opportunities for Atletico Madrid to take another step.
