Aljamain Sterling responds to Patricio Pitbull claiming he turned down UFC 314 fight

Aljamain Sterling went to social media to set some rumors with regard to his return to the Octagon.

Earlier this week, the UFC -Fedweight Division received a huge boost when Dana White announced the long -awaited signing of Patricio Pitbull.

The UFC boss has announced that Pitbull will compete against Yair Rodriguez on UFC 314 on 12 April from Miami, Florida, giving him the chance to immediately add his name to the title photo on 145 pounds.

When the former Bellator gave double champion even more a boost, the featherweight title was vacant when Ilia Topuria announced his permanent step to lightweight and announced an empty title fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes.

Aljamain Sterling responds to Pibull and claims that he 'ran' of him

Since a few months, Pitbull called for his Bellator release and claimed that the promotion did not honor his contract by offering him fighting.

Initially, Dana White was not so much the Brazilian, but he was convinced by his matchmakers. Initially, Pitbull wanted a fight against Topuria, Volkanovski or Lopes, but the promotion asked if he would fight Aljamain Sterling.

Pitbull further accused sterling of running the potential fight, giving him a matchup against Rodriguez.

The former Bantam weight champion, Sterling, fought for the last time at UFC 310 against Movsar Evloev and lost the fight through a unanimous decision.

After the comments from Pitbull, 'Funkmaster', however, responded to his claim that he 'ran' and offered his side of the story.

“I agreed to fight Pibull in April. Because I have been gone and also while dealing with personal matters. I can't take fights in the short term where I am clearly no longer ready, “said Sterling on X.

Beat what for me? I agreed to fight Pitbull in April. Because I have been gone and also while dealing with personal matters. I cannot take fights in the short term where I am clearly no longer ready. https://t.co/VXPOH7PH98

Aljamain Sterling has other ideas for his next fight

Although he claimed that he accepted a fight against Pitbull, Sterling has other ideas in mind for his comeback to the Octagon.

With his UFC 310 fight against EVLOEV that is so closely disputed, he believes that a rematch is needed in five rounds, where the winner deserves a shot on the title.

The unbeaten Russian probably feels hard done by missing an empty title fight, but he is clearly not the biggest fan of the bosses, because White has previously beat Evloev for his performances against Arnold Allen and Sterling.
