Juventus clinch win over Cagliari to move back into Serie A top four

Despite a three-match winning run in the Serie A, Juve was beaten from the UEFA Champions League in the midweek after a 4-3 aggregated defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Their exit from that competition means in any case that they can concentrate on qualifying for next year's edition, while they are not yet completely out of the title race.

During the first half they were the better team, with their first chance when Weston McKennie surrendered the Dwarsbalk in the first 10 minutes.

Not long after that attempt, they were at the front by Dušan Vlahović, who made his first start in 2025.

Michel Adopto's poor pass to Yerry Mina gave him a pinch, but Vlahović then took control of the situation, surpasses the Colombian center back before Elijah Caprile was completed and slid into an empty net.

Although the keeper of the home that was unable to keep attempt, he was able to deny Kenan Yıldız before he boomed a low strike by Vlahović. In response, Cagliari offered very little, but they tested Michele di Gregoria at least shortly before the interval by Nadir Zortea.

The second period was economical in terms of goal chances. Francisco Conceição shot from the edge of the area, shortly before Di Gregorio kept an adopted head comfortably.

Yet Juventus was especially satisfied with allowing Cagliari to have the lead in terms of property while holding on arm length.

Vlahović did have a fantastic opportunity to close the points while he figured out on the goal when one-on-one with Caprile, but the goalkeeper was the same.

Cagliari, however, may have the luck not to admit a penalty when Sebastiano Luperto seemed to push the Serbia International while he prepared to shoot.

In the end, despite the slender lead, it was a fairly comfortable evening for the Bianconeri, and they can be happy with their daily work after their European disappointment.

Cagliari was never really in the match from an attack point, but with this only their third loss in their last eight games, they have set an extra point between themselves and the relegation zone.
