Paul Pogba at Inter Miami ahead of long-awaited return

The 18 -month doping ban of the Frenchman ends in March. It is linked to an MLS movement or even a shock Manchester United returns.

The French world cup winner Paul Pogba is praised as one of the most talented players of his generation, but the 31-year-old notices that he has to start his career while preparing to return to the game.

Pogba has only made 12 club performances since he left Manchester United in 2022. His return to Juventus was hit by an injury that summer and in September 2023 he was suspended because of it not in a drug test after he had “taken non-ending testosterone metabolites”.

His ban on 18 months ends in March, which means that he can finally return to the field. But currently without a club, Pogba is linked to various landing places, including a move to MLS.

On Saturday, Pogba was present to watch Inter Miami with 2-2 with New York City FC in their season opener. Pogba owns real estate in Miami and has been associated for a while with a move to the US. A shock recovery to Manchester United has also been disputed, although it seems unlikely that head coach Ruben Amorim would like to bring in a player of the Lome style of Pogba.

Does Inter Miami save a place for Paul Pogba?

The prospect of another large Ster-star who arrives from Europe may seem far-fetched, but Inter Miami has shown real ambition in recent years with their transfer processes. The strict MLS spending rules make it difficult for clubs to acquire various famous internationals, but Miami may have saved a place for another star.

Of the four ex-barcelona players, only Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets are designated players, ie not included in the salary limit. The departure of Vooruit Leonardo Campana during the low season means that the herons still have a place available for a high earner.

In theory they could register Pogba, but they should still find the money to cover his demands on high wages. As a frequent visitor to Miami, Pogba would probably be attracted by the herons, but there could be a different interest in his signature. The athletics reported last year that various MLS teams have placed Pogba on their discovery list, giving them priority to negotiate with the French world cup winner.
