Where would Manchester United be without Bruno Fernandes (£ 6.2 million)?
The Red Devils begging in the 15th who have only collected 30 points this season of 26 games in the Premier League this season and yet their club captain is now the best -performing midfielder of Dream Team.
A 16-point trek in Goodison Park meant that Fernandes Leapfrogged Cole Palmer (£ 5.8 million) in the weekend was third in the ranking on the weekend, behind Superstar Vooruit Mohamed Salah (£ 8.3 million) and Erling Haaland (£ 8.1 million).
It seemed as if Ruben Amorim's side would undergo their third consecutive defeat in the top flight when they went to Everton 2-0 after 33 minutes.
The Portuguese playmaker, however, inspired the visitors to a second half comeback with a sweet -hit free kick, eight minutes later followed by the equalizer of Manuel Ugarte (£ 3 million).
You could think for hours about the weaknesses of Man United, but Dream Team managers must concentrate on the impressive returns of Fernandes when weighing his viability.
He is statistically the most in-shape midfielder in the game at the moment with 34 points in his last three trips.
Fernandes scored ten goals and this season gave 13 assists in all competitions, but that count only tells half the story.
The 30-year-old is primarily an attack-oriented midfielder, but only seven players in his position have made more tackles, most of them are combative ball winners who contribute little target involvement.
He is also in ninth place in his position for shots on goal and third for great opportunities.
Factor in 27 bonus points, seven of which have been entered in its last three trips, and it is no wonder that Fernandes has worked his way to the top of the midfield ranking.
Admittedly, he has played ten games more than Palmer and seven more than third place Bryan Mbeumo (£ 4.7 million), but the fact that he adopts such a high workload is what makes him such an attractive dream team.
From the point of view of Amorim, his transmission on Fernandes is a huge concern, but it is a useful factor for Dream Team bosses because it provides minutes on the field.
Gameweek 25 is only half completed, because there is a full round of Premier League matches in the midweek, with Man United placed in 18th place on Wednesday evening Ipswich.
Further looking ahead, Fernandes is perhaps a small minority of players who plays twice in Gameweek 26.
Man United and Aston Villa are the only two teams that draw double duty because they are still active in the FA Cup and their respective European competitions.
The first will soon be confronted with Fulham and Real Sociedad – Can Amorim really afford to go without Fernandes in both luminaires in view of the current situation at Old Trafford?
It is early days, but Fernandes, who plays in 19.6% of the teams, is currently the most popular recruit prior to the deadline of Gameweek 26.
Another bumper against the tractor boys will only increase its popularity.
