Galatasaray has sworn to submit a criminal complaint against Jose Mourinho in the midst of claims that he made “racist statements” after Monday's Istanbul derby.
Galatasaray SK club statement
Since the start of his management tasks in Türkiye, Fenerbahçe manager Jose Mourinho has constantly issued derogatory explanations that are aimed at the Turkish people. Nowadays his discourse has escalated further than just immoral comments in unambiguously inhuman rhetoric.
We formally explain our intention to initiate criminal proceedings with regard to the racist statements of Jose Mourinho and will submit official complaints accordingly to UEFA and FIFA. Furthermore, we will diligently observe the attitude of Fenerbahçe – confessing an institution to maintain 'exemplary moral values' – on response to the reprehensible behavior that their manager exhibits.
Former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham -Baas Mourinho claimed after the stalemate that Galatasaray had tried to book one of his teams early.
He told a press conference that “everyone on the other bank jumps around as monkeys”.
Galatasaray immediately hit back and accused the Portuguese manager, 62, of “regular use of different words towards Turkish people” since he moved to Istanbul.
In a damn explanation, accompanied by a #Saynotoracism tag, the ruling Turkish champions added: “[He] has now added inhumane rhetoric to his immoral statements.
“We want to inform you that we submit a criminal complaint to the office of the public prosecutor and that we also submit a complaint to UEFA and FIFA with regard to these racist statements against Jose Mourinho.
“Furthermore, we will diligently observe the attitude of Fenerbahce – an institute that claims to maintain 'exemplary moral values' – in response to the reprehensible behavior that their manager shows.”
In his press conference after the game, Mourinho claimed that Galatasary players had played for a draw and one of his players tried to get a yellow card.
Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic, who was reportedly prepared from abroad after a series of controversies around Turkish officials, said Mourinho: “The reason that this was a good match was because of the performance of the referee.
“He had enough honesty to manage this match well. They tried to get a yellow card for our 18-year-old player from the first minute, but the referee managed the game well.”
However, it was his comments that followed, which are believed to have caused a stir.
Mourinho continued: “In the situation I mentioned, everyone on the opposite bank jumped around as monkeys.
“If it was a Turkish referee, they would have given the card immediately and I would have to drop the player in a minute.
“It was a great match for him.”
Galatasaray star Victor Osimhen later shared the statement of his club on his Instagram story.
Mourinho had previously criticized Osimhen for his antics on Pitch, labeled him a fantastic player, but claimed that he “dives too much”.
Mourinho still has to respond to the accusations that are made against him. The former man Utd -Baas has previously spoken about how football is plagued by racist incidents.
The Feisty Derby saw seven yellow cards eliminated and the game was also temporarily stopped when Fenerbahce fans launched in the home fans among them.
It was assumed that around 30,000 police officers were employed for the Monday evening match.
Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk focused on Mourinho after the game after the “Special One” went into the referee's dressing room to talk to him.
Buruk said: “Mourinho took a long time to cry. The crying … He is famous for crying. He went into the referee's room and cried. Let him keep crying.”
Former Porto, Real Madrid and Inter Milan Boss Mourinho took over at Fenerbahce last year.
Monday's result leaves them in second place, six points behind Galatasaray with 12 supergames.
