The French attacker is now a doubt for the Copa del Rey match after having undergone an operation.
Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappé has undergone an operation on a tooth that could see him miss on the Copa del Rey Semi-final match on his side against Real Sociedad on Wednesday.
The Frenchman played without problems in Madrid's home against Girona in Laliga, but manager Carlo Ancelotti revealed on Tuesday that he had taken sick with a problem with his teeth.
“He will travel,” Ancelotti explained to a sea of relieved faces, “and everyone who travels has a chance to play”.
Mbappé puts ghosts from the past to bed
The struggles in the early season of Mbappé are now far behind him, it seems. After missing two penalties – against Athletic Club and Liverpool – and “Rock Bottom”, the attacker found a form at Real Madrid and one of, if not the, most important attacking threat in the side.
He scored 17 goals in LaLiga and 7 in the Champions League and is only behind Robert Lewandowski in the domestic classification for finding the back of the net.
Carlo Ancelotti also explained in his pre-game press conference that Fede Valverde and Thibaut Courtois will also miss the game in San Sebastián, although there are no injury problems. The two players will in fact exclude the game because of load management, where the manager likes to distribute the minutes around the team and give those who have played the most a rest.
Given the timely return of Lucas Vázquez, the Real Madrid coach and his staff have decided to let the Uruguayan rest after he has filled in a number of important competitions during the campaign.
Real Sociedad will organize Real Madrid in Anoeta Stadium in San Sebastián, Spain on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
