Rogers concedes Villa ‘made it too easy’ for Palace

Morgan Rogers felt that Aston Villa was being punished to make things “too easy” for Crystal Palace in their 4-1 defeat in Selhurst Park.

Villa missed the chance to close the gap on the top four of the Premier League, because they suffered their seventh loss in nine road competition matches.

Rogers' well -tackled strike attracted Unai Emery's his level after they fell to the opener of Ismaila Sarr.

However, it turned out to be a consolation with Jean-Philippe Mateta and Eddie Nketiah die Sarr's Second Sandwichen, because the Eagles achieved back-to-back victories.

And Rogers admitted that he and his teammates did not “stamp our authority at stamp”.

“I thought we were doing reasonably well in the first half, they scored against the run of play,” he said TNT Sports. “We did well to get back into the game.

“We probably did not vote for our authority, we probably made it too easy for them to get through us. They deserved the victory. We were not good enough and yes, it is one of those games.

“We just were not good enough today. We have to look at ourselves and go again. We have games fat and quickly in other competitions.”

Emery agreed, with the villa boss also confirmed that Emiliano Martinez, who was replaced during the break, was betting a knock before the game.

“We competed well to the first goal we admitted,” he added. “We dominated the game. The first chance they had scored and then they got some transition.

“We tried to come back in the second half, but then we scored, and we were excited and motivated to try to continue to control the game with our positioning.

“They scored the second goal and we lost our positioning, we admitted transitions and they scored two more goals. It was a difficult result. We competed well, but it wasn't enough – we're going further.

“[Martinez] Felt some pain. Even yesterday he trained well, but before the game he felt better and felt confident to play. During the break he told us that he was not feeling well, so we decided to change him. “
