Body language experts reveals Salah’s ‘REAL feelings’ over contract stand-off
A body language expert has revealed what they believe are Mohamed Salah's real feelings about his contract woes with Liverpool.
The Egyptian's contract expires at the end of this season and he recently claimed there are no new offers on the table from Merseyside chiefs.
The striker gave a rare interview with Mail Sport and a small group of other reporters after scoring twice in the 3-2 win over Southampton.
He revealed that no progress has been made on an extension, meaning he could sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from early January. However, it is understood Liverpool have contacted his agent.
As a video of Salah discussing his situation goes viral, a body language expert has given his opinion on the matter.
Speaking to OLBG, leading body language expert Darren Stanton said: 'Salah is sending a warning shot across the bow to Liverpool's senior management.
'He seems genuine as a man who wants to spend the rest of his career at Liverpool. At almost 33 years of age, he wants a new contract that reflects the longevity he can offer in the time he has left as a professional player, but if there is no offer he will leave.
“That hand-to-mouth gesture suggests he's feeling some pressure not to say too much and overplay his hand, but if he touches the top of his head that's also fear and frustration, so if we don't do something soon see from Liverpool, we can do that' interesting times are ahead.'
As reported by Mail Sport, Liverpool have rejected a lucrative £150 million bid from Saudi side Al-Ittihad in 2023. On that occasion, the Reds could not compete with a whopping tax-free salary of £1.25 million per week. offer from the club.
Salah said on Sunday about his contract break: 'We are almost in December and I have not yet received any offers to stay at the club.
'I'm probably outside more than inside.
'You know I've been at the club for years. There is no club like this. But ultimately it's out of my hands. Like I said, it's December and I haven't received anything about my future yet.
'I love the fans. The fans love me. Ultimately it is not in my hands, nor in the hands of the fans.'
Stanton also gave his thoughts on Salah's signature celebration, saying: 'Drawing an arrow and shooting it – for me it's a gesture of power, but it's also something that hides in plain sight.
'Does he know something that no one else knows yet? Has he been in negotiations with other options?
“By making that gesture, it's pretty blatant in front of everyone. It's a celebration of a successful goal, but I also can't help but think: Will we look back in the next two years and say this is what that meant?
“I think it'll be interesting to watch this space because I think it's probably going to announce something that people aren't expecting.”
