Simeone Inzaghi praised the performance of Inter in their 2-0 win over Lazio in the quarterfinals of Coppa Italia, but admitted that he was worried about the energy levels of his players.
In the 39th minute led by the astonishing Salvo by Marko Arnautovic before the penalty of Hakan Calhanoglu sealed their progression to the last four.
Indeed, the Nerazzurri have now reached the semi -final of the Coppa Italia 30 times, with only Juventus (36) who manages more performances at this stage.
It was also the fifth time in the last six seasons that Inter was shown in the semi -final of the competition, with a collision against Rivals AC Milan awaiting the semi -final of April.
But the side of Inzaghi was made to work for their victory, in which an expected goals (XG) were only registered 0.92 in total, while they are also limited to only four shots during the game.
“We played an excellent game against a very strong team,” said Inzaghi. “Lazio has caused us many problems, especially in the first half.
“But once we broke the impasse, we did well. I saw many great performances and hope that we will continue like this.
“We have to take it one match at a time and concentrate on restoring our energy because we need everyone.”
Inter has played three times this season three times, but it is the Rossoneri who is better for their recent meetings.
Milan was 2-1 winners in their first Serie A meeting before they came out in the Supercoppa Italiana final thanks to the winner of Tammy Abraham.
She saw the last meeting 1-1 drawing in the Italian flight, but Inter has since built a one point lead in Serie A, while Milan took place in seventh place.
Inter is also the only Italian side that is still fighting for awards in the Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the Champions League, and Inzaghi was worried about the hectic schedule that would come.
“It will be an intense two -legged draw. We will go into it with the aim of reaching the final in Rome,” said Inzaghi.
“We will think more about it in April. At the moment we have a full schedule with many games close together.”
Inzaghi added that Arnautovic was placed strategically out of the box at the corners, so that he was brought into the perfect position to bring Inter to the lead.
Arnautovic's sensational strike came with an XG count of only 0.02, but Inzaghi had the balling capacity of the Austrian.
“We knew he had to position himself on the edge of the box -he has a great shooting capacity. He is a player who always performs well, and today he was decisive,” said Inzaghi.
