Cole Palmer opened its difficult form of shape after Chelsea hit Southampton 4-0 on Tuesday evening.
Palmer, 22, enjoyed a wonderful 18 months since drawing for the blues from Manchester City in the summer of 2023 for £ 42.5 million.
The attacking midfielder has scored 39 goals and added 21 assists, regularly added from the front at Stamford Bridge.
However, Palmer did not score or helped in his last seven games in all matches, where the 21-year-old is undergoing what his first dip seems to be for the club.
He is still in the middle of a fantastic season with 20 target contributions in 27 Premier League matches, but it doesn't go out as planned.
But despite the recent dry patch of Palmer, Chelsea Southampton easily put away, such as Christopher Nunku, Pedro Neto, Levi Colwill and Marc Cucurella were on the score sheet.
This was despite the fact that the English star had seven shots – more than any other player – but nothing fell for him.
And after the game to Instagram, Palmer shared a photo of himself who looked a bit depressed on the field.
He added the caption: 'Well done boys +3. Don't worry, I'll come back. '
Palmer's Dip coincided with the wider struggle of Chelsea for form. Since December 22, the 21-year-old has scored three times in 11 Premier League matches for a period when the blues won three, have lost five and signed three of those games.
In the meantime, Enzo Maresca was deeply seen in conversation with Palmer on the field after the victory of Southampton and the Chelsea boss later revealed what they had spoken about.
'It's pretty simple. They all went through a number of bad moments, it's normal, “said Maresca.
'You can't expect every season or game, it's normal. He is a human.
“He misses goals, he misses a few things, it's about how you react, I told him it's good.”
Asked specifically what he said to a depressed Palmer at the last whistle, Maresca explained the positive reinforcement that he now channeled.
“I said he was lucky in his career,” the Italian coach added.
“He has shared changing rooms with top players and he knows that they are going through bad moments. Keep working, keep laughing, enjoying your football. '
The victory over Southampton was crucial for Chelsea when the men of Maresca were back in the top four for the rest of the midweek action.
However, the blues are only four points free from 10th place Aston Villa and it promises to be an intriguing few months in the race for Europe.
