Joe Rogan reveals pre-Vecht rituals from Jon Jones
Joe Rogan recently had the expert in influence, conviction and human behavior, Chase Hughes, on his podcast.
As he often does, the MMA commentator brought the conversation to his favorite sport.
Rogan discussed the mental aspects of fighting and the increased focus that modern combat athletes set up to get their thoughts just before they compete.
“The moment is overwhelming, it's so different from everything else,” he said.
“You have to have a very special spirit to overcome that. I think it's one of the reasons why many fighters are now looking for mental coaches.
“There are now quite a few different fighters who use mental coaches and a kind of visualization coaching, where they have very specific goals in terms of how they want to walk away, they want to see the whole thing.”
The 57-year-old further explained how Jones used visualization during his Hall of Fame career, whether it is now by going to the Arena a little early, or tape study, so he knows his opponent inside out.
Rogan added: “Jon Jones would walk famous for the fight, and he would move through the Octagon to soak it all while there was no one there.
“We would sometimes get images of him who just go around. You know, he just wanted to feel the floor under his feet, he wanted to see the cage and get himself in that mentality.
“Jon is, if not the biggest, one of the absolutely greatest of all time. He was meticulous and is still meticulous about his preparation. Taking care of looking at images, understanding who he is fighting, what their movements are, what they do, what they tell them, what mistakes they make and then visualizing success. “
What is the next step for Jon Jones?
Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall is the next one in line for a shot on the MMA goat.
There are conversations about their unification fight since Jones Ko'd Miocic three months ago.
UFC boss Dana White '100 percent' guaranteed that his two heavyweight champions will meet in 2025.
In an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow, Aspinall insisted that he was 'very confident', the fight would happen – but lately his fans were concerned about the long -term negotiations and the general lack of updates.
White tried to put everyone's spirit at ease during a live stream to announce that Ilia Topuria has given up its featherweight title, which will be at stake when Alexander Volkanovski is confronted with Diego Lopes on UFC 314 on 12 April.
“It's coming, relaxing,” said the MMA Mogul in response to a pessimistic fan commentary on Jones vs Aspinall.
Unfortunately, fans cannot relax until White officially has books of the largest fight that 2025 has to offer.
