Fans of Liverpool think that Mo Salah has hinted that he will leave Anfield at the end of the season after he seemed to be somewhat a farewell message in a new interview.
Salah has scored 30 goals and registered another 21 assists this season in some stunning figures – but the Egyptian is without a resolution in the summer.
Liverpool wants to extend the deal, but has not found an agreement, while Salah has been registered several times and says he would like to expand.
The Egyptian sat down with TNT sports and spoke about how he would like to be remembered by Reds supporters.
'I want fans to remember that I gave it all to the fans, I gave it all to the city. I was here, I was not lazy, I just enjoyed my football and gave it all.
'I think that's what the city is about – they give you love and you have a bond with them because you give everything.
“I just want them to remember that I was here eight years old and I gave it all.”
Fans of Liverpool were not encouraged by the comments, where many thought it sounded like a farewell.
“Ouch Ouch, this sounds like a farewell,” wrote one while the other said, “All this looks like farewell message. Mo please do not break my heart. '
Salah, however, refused to give a concrete update about his future and contract discussions.
“No news,” he said. 'In a very polite way. I just think of the Premier League and we will see the end of the season. '
Salah contributed a different goal and an assist when Liverpool defeated Man City in the Etihad on Sunday to almost get out of sight at the top of the Premier League.
The match followed the second place of the second placed Arsenal's 2-0 defeat against West Ham the day before, leaving a 11-point gap between the two sides with 11 games, although the Gunners have a match in hand.
Salah, 32, is one of the best players of the Liverpool, with a remarkable 241 goals in 387 games for the club since he came to Roma in 2017 for a first fee of £ 36.5 million.
The attacker has won eight trophies in Anfield, including the Premier League and Champions League.
He has long been associated with a move to the Saudi Pro League and Liverpool will be powerless to stop him this summer if that is what he chooses.
Manager Arne Slot joked on Tuesday that his sizzling form makes it more difficult for the club to expand his contract.
“You can look at it in both ways,” said Reds' boss. 'You can say the better he does, the more expensive he could become and if he really did it worse, we would be approaching times to extend his contract.
'For everyone it is the best that he brings the performances he is doing now, perhaps only for those who have to pay him, it's not the best! It is the best for everyone, because if you want to play at this club, you have to be at its level.
'Otherwise you are almost useless to play at this club, because we only need players who are at the top of their game.
'Because this is one of the best or the best club in the world to play for. He must have these versions to play here and hopefully to expand here. '
