Amorim will speak to Garnacho after he stormed down tunnel

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim says that he will speak with Alejandro Garnacho after the winger marched straight through the tunnel after his first half replacing Ipswich.

Garnacho was replaced by Amorim at 44 minutes in an immediate response to Patrick Dorgu's red card, with the attacker replaced by Noussair Mazraoui.

The Argentinian went directly through the tunnel when United fans in Old Trafford seemed to take the decision to take the winger.

United then won 2-1 and although they were fed back by Jaden Philogene's second goal of the match in the first half of the stop time, the winner of Harry Maguire's side gave the three points.

But the conversation after the game surrounded Garnacho's decision to go straight to the dressing room, instead of back to the couch.

When he was asked about the incident, Amorim thought that connections were made between Garnacho and Marcus Rashford – who recently left for Aston Villa after he had been banned by the United Boss because of concern about his dedication and mentality.

“You make a connection with Rashford, right?” said Amorim. “I know, I know.

“What I say is that I will clearly talk to Garnacho about it. So I will probably talk about it if you want in the next press conference.”

Asked to explain why Garnacho was the one who made a place, Amorim said: “Thinking was that we would play more in the 5-3-1.

“I know that is a risk, because you might take the only player who has one-to-one pace, but I felt that the team was ok in control of the game, almost during the break.

“Then you make the replacement. We have to choose someone to go out, we also have to think about set pieces, so it was my choice.”

It is not the first time that Garnacho is confronted with the wrath of Amorim, with the winger left out of the Derby victory of United on Manchester City together with Rashford, although his manager said he “changed” in the weeks after the exclusion, hence his recovery.

Amorim defends Dorgu after horror first half

Amorim also jumped to the defense of Wing-back Dorgu after he was sent to Ipswich.

Dorgu's mix-up with Andre Onana gifted Ippswich the opener in the fourth minute before the 20-year-old was subsequently sent for his challenge on Omari Hutchinson just before half-time.

“Today I am not frustrated,” he said TNT Sports. “We scored two goals and the broadcast changed the game. The boys showed and our fans helped a lot, we deserved the victory completely.

“He [Dorgu] Is ready because he proved in the last game. Every player can have a mistake like today and broadcasting, he wants to play the ball. It was hard how he went for the ball. He is clearly ready for the Premier League.

“People judge immediately, last week he was fine, but today they will say he is not experienced enough, but I don't feel that way.”
