Barcelona back on standby over Marcus Rashford summer move

Barcelona remains alert to a potential summer transfer movement for Manchester United Vooruit Marcus Rashford.

The International of England was strongly connected to a move to La Blaugrana in January after he was out of grace at the end of 2024 in Old Trafford.

Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim left Rashford from his team plans after he indicated a desire to leave the club in search of a new challenge in 2025.

Despite marking their interest in the 27-year-old, Barcelona did not make a formal movement before the transfer window was closed at the beginning of February.

That enabled Unai Emery to dive into and complete a last-minute loan agreement for Rashford, while he arrived at Aston Villa until the end of the campaign.

Rashford looked like a new life player since he came to Villa, released from his tense setting in United, and Emery has a £ 40 million purchase option on him in June.

Villa will wait until the end of the campaign before he calls about what they have to do with their lending with widespread reports in the UK that indicates that Rashford has already made his decision to continue from Manchester.

Although Villa has the lead, via that clause, Barcelona is not out of the running according to reports from Football Insider.

The Catalan giants are still in the Rashford race, next to Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich, when Villa does not complete a deal.

The report adds that Barcelona still has an important advantage, because the player himself prefer a switch to La Liga above the remaining in the Premier League.

Barcelona should work hard to lower United's asking price in the coming months, but if Rashford drives to the move, they could perform.

Rashford is expected to reach the 300 Premier League game marking in the coming weeks as a milestone before his departure from Old Trafford.
