Arsenal is interested in signing Bayern Munich -midfielder Joshua Kimmich, Sky reports in Germany.
Kimmich is no longer a contract in the summer and is free to talk to clubs outside of Germany.
Arsenal does not comment on reports they have discussions with the representatives of the German International.
Discussions are going on about a new deal for Kimmich in Bayern.
Midfield is an area that Arsenal looks at in the next transfer window, where both Thomas Partey and Jorginho have no contract from a contract in the summer.
The club is supposed to close a deal for a Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
Although recruiting another midfielder, in addition to Zubimendi, cannot be excluded, it is thought that Arsenal is also focused on the options they already have at the club.
Kimmich, 30, enjoyed a fantastic spell in Bayern Munich, which brought 435 performances over 10 seasons with the club and 43 goals scored. He played a key role in their 2019/20 Champions League triumph and is an eight times Bundesliga winner.
He usually plays as a central midfielder, but is equally comfortable in the right back position and this season he was used in both roles by head coach Vincent Kompany.
Kimmich has 97 caps for Germany and scored seven goals.
Analysis: Kimmich's attraction is clear
Nick Wright from Sky Sports:
The need of Arsenal for reinforcements in midfield is clearly given their likely departure this summer and it is hardly surprising that a player of Kimmich's quality, free, is considered an attractive option.
Kimmich is the wrong side of 30, making him considerably older in recent years than most Arsenal signs sessions, but he is still at the height of his powers and his experience and leadership would be invaluable, especially in view of the expected outputs of two older heads in Jorginho and Partey.
The 97-CAP Germany International remains crucial for Bayern. He played more minutes this season than any other player under Vincent Kompany, and usually switches seamlessly between the right back and the central midfield. His excellent vision and passing skills shine in both positions.
He has produced nine assists in all competitions so far and that number is not unusual. Kimmich is a metronomic passer, but he is also creative and able to incision. He even carries a target threat, on average about four per season during his trophy loaded decade in the club.
His world -class family tree is of course known, but the interest of Arsenal was probably solidified by experiencing his entire repertoire firsthand in last season's quarterfinals.
Kimmich scored Bayern's winning goal that night in the Allianz Arena, went on the way to the back post and led the game from the full-back position, created twice as many opportunities as someone else, with four, and also more touches than all his Bayern teammates, with 90.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola loved him because of his versatility and tactical intelligence, as well as his quality while he was in charge of Bayern, who usually used him as a center-back.
But 10 years later it is like an in -depth midfielder who is able to orchestrate the piece and to break down stubborn opponents that he could be the most useful for Arsenal.
