Predicted Teams Barca-Brest: Two changes, no Lamine Yamal and Eric Roy tactics
Barcelona will take on Brest in their fifth Champions League fixture, with kick-off at 9pm CEST in Montjuic. The Blaugrana will be desperate to arrest a poor two-match run that has seen just one point in La Liga, with Brest moving a point ahead of the Catalans when the pressure is off.
Hansi Flick confirmed that Alejandro Balde and Lamine Yamal would remain sidelined for the match, along with Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Ansu Fati, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Marc Bernal. Ferran Torres and Eric Garcia will make the decisions during the match.
The debate will be about who will replace Lamine Yamal on the right wing, and Sport believes it will be Raphinha, with Dani Olmo on the left. This allows Fermin Lopez to move into midfield ahead of Pedri and Marc Casado. Otherwise, they expect Flick to keep things the same after the 2-2 draw against Celta Vigo.
MD believe that left-back Gerard Martin will be replaced by Hector Fort from the start, after the same substitution took place at half-time in Galicia, with the former struggling. However, they too believe that Fermin will be the only other change in Gavi's place.
There is also agreement on Brest's position, with only a debate on the right-wing position, which could be filled by Sima, Romain del Castillo or Kamory Doumbia. It was reported in the Spanish press that they have obtained the Brest tactics for the match, which features the same formations, with the exception of Doumbia on the right.
If Barcelona were to win, they would be all but guaranteed to qualify for at least the play-off round in February with 12 points out of 15. However, they are aiming for a top eight finish, which would allow them to get a bye into the round of 15 .16.
