Barcelona is confronted with a tough task in the following summer or two, because they are looking for the final replacement for Robert Lewandowski. Various names are mentioned as potential advertisements for the Blaugrana, but none of them will probably come cheap. At least of all Alexander Isak.
The Blaugrana will exclude Lewandowski's contract at least, if not two, which will probably exclude a movement for Isak. Although the Polish attacker will be 37 in August, he seems ready to lead the border for Hansi Flick's outfit, and remains the Pichichi in La Liga, who has already achieved 33 goals this season.
Recent reports have noted that Lewandowski's contract extension is a sign that Barcelona will not tackle the number nine position this summer, in no part due to the costs. However, if they did this, Isak would be the preferred option. The Catalan giants, however, know that the struggle for the signature of Isak will be fierce, with Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain that form a long and rich list of vooragers.
For his part, Isak is 'excited' by the prospect to play for Barcelona, and the fact that he is MD on their shortlist report. The Swedish attacker is aware that a move to Catalonia is also unlikely, since Newcastle United will only sell him for an offer of more than € 100 million. He also earns a salary of € 18 million a year, a figure that his agents will try to improve with his next contract.
Barcelona is also linked to RB Leipzig Vooruit Benjamin Sesko and Sporting CPs Viktor Gyokeres, but given the tempo of the market, it seems unlikely that they will be available for two seasons. Likewise, new talents and names will arise.
