Alex Pereira shuts down Jake Paul fight talks as he turns attention to pound-for-pound number one

Alex Pereira is no longer interested in fighting Jake Paul after the FaceTime Face-Off of the couple last summer.

The beloved UFC Light-heavy Weight Champion will be facing Magomed Ankalaev on UFC 313 next week in a fight that could see him anything but his division, wipe his division away. He has always had a sharp eye on the boxing ring and after Jake Paul Mike Perry beat Pereira and Paul in July and Paul called each other during a phone call.

Pereira has since been called by Oleksandr UsyK for a crossover champion US champion fight with the former Cruiserweight King. And it seems that he would rather pursue that than a collision against Paul this year.

Alex Pereira claims that he is at a 'different level' than Jake Paul while fighting discussions are simmering

In July it seemed that Alex Pereira wanted to fight Jake Paul in a Bokscrosover after their publicly visible Facetime Call. But with a bloody elbow in an exclusive chat as a ring ambassador, he seems to have completely returned the idea.

“I think that was more for the media, for the hype,” said Pereira about the run-in of the couple last summer. “I don't know if that makes sense. Maybe for an exhibition match or something.

“But to be honest, I am at a different level, that he is now a boxer. He is a man who trains boxing, but I just have the feeling that I am different, at a different level. “

Alex Pereira responds to Oleksandr Usyk Callout

The boxing match that seems to be more logical for Pereira is against undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. The ex-cruiserweight has defeated all newcomers in his short run on top of the ring and called Pereira as one of the last two opponents he would like to face.

Pereira loves the prospect of a confrontation and added: “I liked that, I clearly said earlier that my desire to box one day and I would like to face the champion, so I think that is the fight that would be logical if I would go.

“But if he is no longer the champion, which makes sense to me to fight where the champion versus champion is.”
