Injury pile-up cost Inter against Napoli, claims Inzaghi

Simone Inzaghi set Inter's Last-Gasp-Draw with Napoli on injuries.

A late Philip facturing goal saw Napoli save a 1-1 draw at home at the Serie A Title Rivals Inter, so that the teams kept separate by just one point.

Federico Dimarco brought title defender in Inter with a beautiful free kick in the 22nd minute in Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Inter went into the collision without Yann Sommer, Matteo Darmian, Carlos Augusto and Nicola Zalewski, and were then forced to drop Dimarco and Hakan Calhanoglu early in the second half.

“Absolutely. We were already in an emergency, Dimarco and Calhanoglu asked for a replacement after the first half,” Inzaghi replied when asked if the injuries had influenced the performance of his team.

“They tried to hold a bit, but they couldn't run well. It is a moment like this for injuries, the boys did their best against an excellent team that grew a lot in the second half.

“We take the draw. For the equal goal we could have done better, we will assess and analyze.”

Inter -admitted seven minutes after Inzaghi defender Alessandro Bastoni replaced.

However, this was a tactical change.

“Bastoni did not ask for a change. With the import of invoicing, they added centimeters,” said Inzaghi.

“I stopped Stefan de Vrij and had to choose between removing Bastoni or Francesco Acerbi. Bastoni is fine, but we have problems in that area.”

Inter and Napoli have now signed both competition meetings this period, making it the first time that they have shared the points in both luminaires since 2017-18.

Atalanta, however, missed the chance to close the ground on the couple after a 0-0 draw with Venezia.

“We are all there, it is an open championship. Lazio and Juventus can also get it again, but I have faith in it,” said Inzaghi.
