
Wayne Rooney has admitted that he would still like to see Danny Welbeck playing for Manchester United.
The graduated Red Devils Academy, 34, played together with Rooney in Old Trafford between 2008 and 2014.
Welbeck, by Sir Alex Ferguson, fell well through Sir Alex Ferguson after the departure of the legendary shot.
Following Stints with Arsenal and Watford, the former English International has flourished since he moved to Brighton.
After the veteran's winning goal for the Seagulls in Newcastle earlier today, Rooney flowed over his assets.
Sitting in Old Trafford who worked as a BBC expert for the FA Cup collision of United with Fulham, said the former man Utd captain: “Danny is great to play next.
“If I am completely honest, I would probably still like to see him here, play for Manchester United.
“He scored goals during his career. He had injuries at the start of his career, but he seems to have transferred them and he has a fantastic season.”
Welbeck scored seven goals this season in 25 Premier League performances.
That is more than Rasmus Hojlund (two) and Joshua Zirkzee (three) have combined this term.
Both misfiring from United Forwards could not find it today when their party deposited from the FA Cup.
Hojlund, 22, was replaced by Chido Obi 68 minutes after a ineffective display.
While Zirkzee played the full 120 minutes before missing a crucial punishment in the shoot-out.
Rooney, 39, was encouraged by Obi's newest cameo.
He said: “What I really liked about him is that he has placed himself in some really good positions – I am really impressed by him.
“He looked like the one who could continue and could take it.”
