Ruben Amorim has blamed the failure of Manchester United to create enough great opportunities this season about the 'quality' of his players.
Man United was largely ineffective in the future when they were started by Fulham from the FA Cup on Sunday and still suffer a damn loss at Old Trafford.
Their only goal came through skipper and some creative source Bruno Fernandes, who looked again to have saved his side with a smart equalizer in the second half.
However, after he had not found a winner in extra time, United could not get the job done because Bernd Leno stole the show to guide Fulham to victory on penalties.
Amorim was asked post-match why his team has trouble creating meaningful opportunities this term, with people like Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee who are impressed in the front.
“I think it is sometimes the quality of the players,” he said.
“Bruno, also Casemiro, Josh improves a lot of connection, he fights for every ball, he already runs the field, so it's the quality of the players who help us create more opportunities.”
While he regretted the current level of his players, Amorim's comments indicated that it indicated that things are slowly getting better at Old Trafford, even if the results do not reflect that.
Today's result nevertheless acted as a complicated blow to United's already scorching season, with FA Cup elimination, making it a competition less where Amorim can find joy in its first year.
The hope of United to win silverware this season is now resting on the Europa League, with a last 16 draw against Real Sociedad on the very nearby horizon.
But even in the midst of the misery, Amorim keeps his focus on the larger whole while dreaming of bringing United back to the peak of English football – something that is no longer seen since Sir Alex Ferguson's departure.
“The goal is to win the Premier League,” he said. 'I know we lose competitions and lose trophies during this season, but the goal is to win the Premier League.
“I don't know how long it will take. If you think that way, we can suffer a little in these defeats, sometimes a lot, but we have a goal, so regardless of what you go. '
