Fulham call out ‘utterly appalling’ racist and homophobic abuse of Calvin Bassey after FA Cup win against Man United

Fulham is 'completely terrible' with racist and homophobic abuse received by Calvin Bassey after the penalty shoot-out FA Cup victory in Manchester United on Sunday.

The Cottagers promised to take the 'strongest form of action' against those who had sent offensive reports to the defender, which he shared on social media.

Bassey opened the score in Old Trafford and, despite the equalizer of Bruno Fernandes, the West-London club assured a quarter-final place after winning 4-3 on Spot-Kicks.

A statement on the Fulham website said: 'Fulham is completely shocked about the racist and homophobic abuse received and then shared by Calvin Bassey on social media after yesterday's FA Cup against Manchester United.

'We strongly condemn this disgusting behavior that has no place in football or society. Such actions are completely unacceptable and we are fully supported by Calvin Bassey, who will continue to receive our full support.

'We will do everything we can to work together with the relevant authorities in identifying the perpetrators of these common messages and taking the strongest form of action against them.

“Fulham Football Club is dedicated to maintaining a strong position against all forms of discrimination and continues to focus on promoting an environment of respect and inclusion.”
