
Matz Sels was the penalty shoot-outheld of Nottingham Forest again when the side of Nuno Espirito Santo booked a quarter of last draw in Brighton.
And it was a second shoot-out Miss for Ipswich's Jack Taylor who did not score this season from the place in the Carabao Cup.
Ipswich took the lead through the header of George Hirst only for forest skipper Ryan Yates to be the same.
Extra-time could not separate the parties and Bos went to their second consecutive penalty party in the competition.
And the side of Nuno did not miss their mockets with Chris Wood, Morgan Gibbs-White, Elliot Anderson, Neco Williams and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
That put the heat on Taylor again – but his penalty was saved by the best keeper Sels from the Premier League.
The Belgian also saved his side in the penalty shoot-out of the previous round at Exeter.
It means that Bos is only the second time in 29 years in the last eight of the cup.
After a turgid first half, the game exploded in life after the break with Hirst that led ippswich ahead from a corner.

Forest, however, looked sharp again after the break -and Hudson -odoi founded Anthony Elanga, forced tractor boys -keeper Alex Palmer in a salvation, low on his right.
But Ipswich skipper Sam Morsy came close to opening the score with a powerful ride of 25 Yards that Forest Keeper Sels did well to tip over the bar.
The resulting corner went much better for the men of McKenna after 53 minutes.
Ben Johnson's corner found Hirst on the distant pole and his header thought it was just through the legs of Sels.
The goal came for the traveling Suffolk fans who felt the chance to numb forest on their own turf.
But Bos brought it over with 22 minutes – and perhaps it was the sight of Topscorerhout who prepared to get from the bank.
Forest -fans already sang his name when Elanga delivered a Pinpoint Cross in the Ipswich area.
Yates was present to go home and the side of Nuno was suddenly back in the game.
And Wood was told to return to the bank with his services.
The game was open and the home fans then urged the Brazilian defender Murillo to shoot. He did exactly that and brought an excellent save from Palmer.
Wood finally came with eight minutes, because Nuno, as in the final round, needed his big guns on the field.
But Hudson-Odoi almost gave Forest the lead when he cut from the left and produced a shot that cut the slat from the low.
The game was stopped after a collision of heads between Yates and Jacob Greaves left the ippswich sub with blood that dropped from a face wound.
