Van Dijk says Liverpool must find another level versus PSG

Virgil van Dijk has warned that Liverpool should take things another equipment if they want to survive their heavyweight Champions League Last-16 draw against Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool enjoyed an incredible season under Arne Slot, which is clearly at the top of the Premier League and with an EFL cup final against Newcastle United in the diary.

But on Wednesday they will be confronted with one of their most difficult tests among the Dutchman when they visit the Parc des Princes for the first stage of their round-of-16 collision.

PSG has been in remarkable form lately and won 18 of their last 20 games in all competitions (two draws) and won five in a row in the Champions League-Including a 10-0 aggregated triumph above Brest in the play-off round.

They have scored 21 goals and have only admitted three in their last five European trips, and get a chance of 41% to continue to the quarterfinals at the expense of the Reds.

With LFCTV, Van Dijk said: “It will be a very good match against a team in shape. I think they played very well in their latest Champions League match against Brest.

“It will be difficult, but these are the games in which you want to compete and I am really looking forward to it.

“Of course it feels like it is going up a level now. We are in the knockout phases and there is no time for errors or bad games.

“There are two games to get through and we want to be so good that we deserve to continue.

“But you have to fight for it, you have to do everything to win the game. That is what we are going to try to do, but we are certainly aware of it.

“We will be aware of it in Paris and then clearly here. These are the nights in which you want to perform and you want to show the whole world.”

Liverpool has won none of their last five-out matches against French parties in Europe (two draws, three defeats), with their last such victory in Marseille in September 2008 (2-1 in the group stage of the Champions League).

But Slot is unbeaten in three European meetings with French teams, wins two of those competitions and pulls the other, the most recent is a 2-1 triumph over Lille this season.
