Rio Ferdinand has stated that Mo Salah is currently the striking candidate who wins the Ballon d'Or gentlemen later this year.
This season, Salah scored 30 goals in 39 performances for Liverpool, so that the club is driven to the top of the Premier League table and the last 16 of the Champions League.
“At the moment at the moment, I don't think someone else is on stage,” Ferdinand said this week on TNT sports.
Ferdinand spoke for the Champions League collision of Liverpool with Paris Saint-Germain-where the winner will meet Aston Villa or Club Brugge in the quarterfinals.
Despite his conviction that Salah is currently leading the Ballon d'Or race, Ferdinand is of the opinion that the 32 -year -old Egyptian might miss the best individual price of world football if Liverpool does not win – or at least deep in – the Champions League.
He added: 'I think that with the way the Champions League works, while you come through the knockout phases and someone starts to come forward, she (Ballon d'Or of contenders) ends up there.
'It really comes down to moments in large games. You can throw Salah inside, you can throw [Ousmane] Dembele as a PSG goes far. [Kylian] Mbappe will be there, [as will] Vinicius [Junior] And [Jude] Bellingham.
'The person who retains his status and pops up in the semi -final and final will win. If they (Liverpool) win the Champions League, I am sure he will play a major role. '
Most Bookmakers currently judge Liverpool as third favorites to end the season as Champions of Europe, with Barcelona and Real Madrid seen as marginal more likely winners.
But Salah is the outright favorite for the balloon d'Or based on gambling, for Mbappe, Vinicius, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.
A Liverpool player did not win the Ballon d'Or since Michael Owen in 2001, while the last African who won the prize was Liberian George Weah in 1995.
The Ballon d'Or ceremony of 2025 takes place on October 27.
By that time, Salah may no longer be a Liverpool player, because his current contract ends on 30 June.
The former Chelsea and Roma Forward, which has been in Liverpool since 2017, recently revealed that winning the Premier League is his top objective.
Salah has won seven different trophies during his career in Liverpool, including the Champions League and the Premier League.
His Premier League success, however, came during the Covid Pandemie, which means that Liverpool could not celebrate well with their supporters.
“The biggest motivation is to win the Premier League,” he told Optus Sport. “Not even the Champions League. I always say Champions League, seven years I said the Champions League. This is the first year that I say the Premier League.
'I just want to win the Premier League with the city and the fans to experience with them that day to parade in the city. It will be incredible. '
Liverpool is currently in pole position to win their second Premier League title after opening a 13 -point lead over Arsenal -albeit more a game than the Gunners.
The Reds also have a Carabao Cup final to look forward to later this month against Newcastle, but first they have to try to get past the French psg champions in Europe.
Salah won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2019, before he paraded the trophy over Merseyside in an open-top bus.
Thinking about those parties, Salah said: 'It's an incredible day to be honest. That is why I am really desperate to win the Premier League with the club and to have the same day as this. It becomes unforgettable because I know how much it means to win the Premier League. '
