Barcelona considering ingenious way to lower asking price of Viktor Gyokeres
Barcelona are eyeing the striker market ahead of the 2025 summer transfer window as they look to secure the services of Robert Lewandowski's successor. The name Viktor Gyokeres has featured prominently in speculation in recent months, with the Swedish striker already scoring 33 goals for club and country this season.
Gyokeres is on Barcelona's shortlist and they could have an advantage over the rest in their bid to sign him. Not only are club officials willing to let him stay at Sporting CP for an additional season, but Sport says they are looking to lower the asking price by including the remaining 50% of Francisco Trincao's rights as part of the deal.
Barcelona can re-sign Trincao for €20 million, or they can wait until he is sold to receive half of the transfer fee. However, their idea is to pre-empt this by giving these rights to Sporting in favor of a reduction in Gyokeres' asking price compared to the rest of the club interested in the 26-year-old. It's a bold strategy, but it can also be ingenious.
