Arne Slot makes incredibly honest admission after Liverpool’s smash and grab win at PSG

Arne Slot not only believed that Liverpool was lucky to win on Wednesday evening to Paris Saint -Germain – he thought that even a draw would have been lucky.

The PSG side of Luis Enrique registered 27 shots against the men of Slot, excluding the goal of KHVICA KVARATSKHELIA that was excluded for offside. However, they could not find a way along Alisson and were punished in the last few minutes when Liverpool Harvey Elliott scored the winner with his first touch.

Les Parisiens had won 10 games in a row and entered the game and did not succeed in scoring only once in their 24 Ligue 1 matches. They won 10-0 aggregated against Brest in their knockout play-off, but Liverpool treated everything they threw at them.

The manager of Liverpool, however, is not illusions that it was a happy result in view of the balance of playing. And he made this clear in his comments after the game.

“I think if we had a draw here, we would have been the lucky one,” said Slot. “That is clear to everyone. I think they were the much better team today, especially in the first half, they had many open opportunities – three or four large, big, big chances. In the second half they were still the better team, still many shots on goal, but they were mainly from outside.

“But I knew before the game and again saw how much quality this team has, and these individual players have, so all these pictures from outside the box are at a certain speed that you only see with the top players. We have them too, but you also see them – that's why Alisson still had to make many big rescues.”

Slot recognized that something was available for his team during the break, although it took them until the last few minutes. “We were already in the game – three, four, five times I felt like we could hurt them in transition, but we didn't do that – but we waited until the last moment and then we hurt them,” he added

Alisson has been a number of occasions of Liverpool in the past, but suggested that this was a new high at the age of 32. “It was probably the performance of my life,” De Brazilian told TNT Sports. “The manager told us how difficult it would be to play against PSG, how good they are with the ball and that we should be ready to suffer. We knew what would come.

“We have worked hard. We have given away so many opportunities, sometimes one V one, but most of the pursuit is that someone thinks the player a little more with the chance.

“All the efforts that the team made make my work easier. At the end Harvey [Elliott] Come in and scored the goal, it's a great story for us. A great evening. “
