Real Madrid is strongly connected to a relocation for Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso in the summer, especially with doubts about the management of Carlo Ancelotti. However, it seems that neither Ancelotti nor Alonso nor Real Madrid know for sure who will be in charge of the club next season.
Los Blancos is much less likely that this season Ancelotti wins the Champions League of La Liga, both of which are good within their reach at the time of writing. The Italian has a contract until 2026 and a successful season is as close to a guarantee for his continuity as he can get. If Los Blancos wins none of the two major trophies this season, Ancelotti's continuity will be under discussion.
The athletic report that the arrival of Alonso is possible, and others say that there is a 'good chance' that Basque was installed in the summer. Ancelotti staff regards Alonso as the best choice for Real Madrid when they decide to replace Italian, and there is a 'consciousness that something moves'. Ancelotti's camp believes that an agent has contact with Alonso to solve the details that he will be the next Real Madrid manager.
If Ancelotti were to leave in the summer, he would be offered an AA role at Real Madrid elsewhere in the club, as President Florentino Perez believes that he can still give value elsewhere. It has also been spoken that Ancelotti would like to manage internationally, with Brazil and Canada (the country of birth of his partner) presented as attractive destinations.
What ultimately seems clear, as is the case with most decisions at Real Madrid, it will come down to Perez's word. Although he decided to maintain Ancelotti in 2023 after 'only' winning the Copa del Rey, that kind of clementia is rare in real Madrid and it seems unlikely that it comes up twice. The comparison will undoubtedly be clear to Ancelotti.
